The House Speaker, holding power within the legislative branch, approves of the creation of federal laws and the passing of them. Paul Ryan currently holds the position as the Speaker of the House.

Paul Ryan, a former running mate of Mitt Romney for the vice presidential seat in 2012, worked vigorously at a young age. He expanded his knowledge in not only the construction field, but also in politics.

Ryan worked as  a legislative aide for three major figures in Washington: Bob Kasten, Senator Sam Brownback, and the New York republican representative Jack Kemp. Ryan completed terms as a legislative aide, State Representative, and also the chairman of the House Budget Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.

In 2015, Ryan negotiated the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013, along with a U.S. Senator belonging to the Democratic party, Patty Murray. This accomplishment prevented the feuds in Congress over budgets and government spending for 2 years, allowing congress to focus on other subjects in matter.

At a young age, Ryan attained a caring attitude. When he reached 16 years old, the House Speaker found his father, 55-years old, lying in bed dead from a heart attack. From there, Ryan’s demeanor did not waiver, but used this event to motivate his actions which helped him acquire a prosperous future.

The second youngest person to undertake the duty as Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan accomplished eight reelections never receiving less than 55 percent of the vote. Mitt Romney, a former Republican Presidential candidate, requested Ryan to hold the position as the Vice Presidential candidate.

The House Speaker currently meets with family on weekends, greeting his three children and his wife after a long week on Capitol Hill. Ryan has shared his hand in marriage with his wife since 2000.

On April 11, 2018, Ryan made the announcement that he plans to not seek reelection, but will finish his term to January. This decision comes as well as the explanation concerning his family.

Ryan’s children continue to grow, and only seeing them on the weekends creates distress and yearning. With few years left in some of the children’s young education, Paul yearns for the chance to spend more quality time with them.
