Located outside Portland Oregon, the Multnomah Falls attract large groups of tourists year round despite the Eagle Creek fire in 2017, and the hazards that come with the wet winter months of Northwest Oregon. Unfortunately, the extensive fire damage made the lower level trails and viewing areas inaccessible until workers finish the repairs. However, these circumstances do little to halt the flow of visitors to this magnificent waterfall.

Even with the damage done to parts of the platforms and trails, visits to the waterfall remain free. Not only offering both lower viewing levels and trails, but also upper level walkways, trails, lodge, and many more points of interest attract guests to this lovely sight.

Numerous trails offer a challenge to both experienced and inexperienced hikers to the Oregon mountain side. However, if Multnomah Falls guests wish to participate in exploration adventures, the 10 hiking essentials play a part in the trip.

The 10 hiking essentials begin with navigation; a map and compass for obvious reasons. The rest include sun protection (sunscreen and sunglasses), insulation (extra clothing), illumination (headlamps and flashlights), first-aid, nutrition (extra food), hydration (extra water), repair kit (and tools), and an emergency shelter. These items have proven essentially useful to survival, including the proper footwear for hiking.

Although the Multnomah Falls experienced damage from the fire in October, 2017, the waterfall’s extraordinary beauty still dazzles visitors. To experience this waterfall’s exquisite nature provides an aesthetic experience that can only benefit the health of guests. The waterfall’s crashing sounds combined with the small murmur of tourists proves quite therapeutic for nature lovers.
