Former president Barack Obama, born August 4th, 1961 in Honolulu Hawaii, always dreamed serving the presidential office since grade school. Barack wrote an assignment in third grade, and his teacher said that he wrote about wanting to earn the position as U.S. president. As he matured, he desired the president position to change America and make it a better place, and indeed he did.

Born to Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr., they separated soon after she gave birth to him. Ann Dunham could not complete school and care for Barack alone, so after his birth, she sent him to live with his grandparents, while she completed school.

Barack Obama graduated in 1979 from Punahou High School in Honolulu Hawaii, and afterwards, moved to the United States mainland attending Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School. Unlike some attorneys who immediately began their private practice, after completing college in 1997, he started his political career.

Barack crusaded for U.S. Senate in 2004 and won, which made him quite well known. He later announced his candidacy for president of the United States in 2007. Barack defeated republican John McClain in the presidential election on November 4th, 2008.

Sworn into presidency on January 20th, 2009, he immediately went to work trying to improve the economy, his top priority stabilizing America. He promoted tax cuts for middle class Americans, hoping to stimulate the slow economy.

In his first presidential term, Barack supported same-sex marriages and fought for a woman’s right to make her own health decisions. He also made college education more affordable for students, relieving their financial burden. With all his good intentions, people found him an extremely respected and popular president, a leader who truly wanted to improve America.

Barack Obama then contended and debated with republican opponent Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election. He won, and the nation swore him into office for a second term on January 20th, 2013. During this term, he called for full equality for LGBT Americans, a group largely ignored in the nation.

Barack Obama’s term sadly ended on January 20th, 2017, replaced by incoming president elect Donald Trump and leaving the office with 60% of approval rating.

Wonderful! Outstanding! Former president–Barack Obama.
