Located in Travis County, Texas and fed by a never ceasing waterfall, the Hamilton Pool Preserve attracts many visitors throughout the year. Although the waterfall found creation through the collapse of an eroded river, it still successfully represents the undeniable beauty of nature.

A truly magnificent site, the fifty foot waterfall creates a habitat for flourishing life. Many birds, including the Golden Cheeked Warbler, settle in this pristine location. The area also serves as a compatible environment for rare vegetation species, such as the canyon mock-orange, red bay, and chatterbox orchid.

Owned by Travis County as a part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, pool visitation comes with many regulatory restrictions in the interest of the protection of the habitat and its endangered species. With strict policies against overcrowding, staff must routinely turn away guests to protect the lands. In addition, the park does not allow pets, fires, overnight camping, mountain biking or aerial craft within the premises, keeping the waterfall and its surrounding grounds clean and relatively undisturbed.

Entry to the park costs fifteen dollars for each vehicle, including the option of a sixty percent discount to automobiles containing senior citizens ages sixty-two or older or disabled veterans. This makes the Hamilton Pool Preserve and its supplying waterfall an extremely popular tourist attraction or day trip, providing a spacious well-kept outdoor activity at a positively affordable price.

Because the waterfall attracts so many groups, making denied entry a real possibility, guests have the opportunity starting in April to make reservations for the busy season between May and September.  This secures entrance to the pool and waterfall area. Without a reservation, the park suggests planning an alternative activity.

A widely sought after destination for fun and relaxation, the Hamilton Pool Preserve and its waterfall surely deserve their special treatment and maintenance.
