Cassie Borgfield, a senior attending New Caney High School, has spent her high school years enjoying the excellent classes and programs it offered. Dedicated to swim, Cassie has participated in swimming all four high school years, a sport she has truly loved.

Competing with New Caney’s swim team, Cassie has swum her way to the top, and she now holds the title New Caney Eagles swim team’s captain, responsible for both the team’s actions and her own. As captain, Cassie must conduct herself as a leader, give direction and guidance at all times, making sure that team members prepare to perform their best  and on task, having both all of their equipment and knowledge of their scheduled event times.

Cassie truly cares for her team because she loves them completely and unconditionally, treating them like family and would not trade them for any other people in the world. She believes that swimmers function and behave differently because they have strong endurance, mostly good attitudes, and notable personalities. Swimmers tend to act awkward and clumsy out of water, yet perform persistently and gracefully when they swim.

Cassie delights in traveling to swim competitions, riding with her team, enjoying a good time,  knowing the team better. Each bus ride creates new memories, more laughs, and stronger friendships. Relays stand as another favorite for Cassie because they require a united group effort, one person after another giving full effort in the water, depending on each other for the best time possible.

Swimming throughout her high school career almost daily, Cassie challenges herself to better her swimming abilities. Through long, weekly practices, Cassie truly relishes climbing on the block during a swim meet, receiving an intense feeling as she mentally prepares herself for the event that remains seconds away.

After high school, Cassie plans attending McMurry University, and will sign with their outstanding swim team. Unlike huge state schools, this university has attracted Cassie’s attention owing to small classrooms, outstanding programs, an excellent swim team, and its ranking as second safest Texas campus.

Nursing has excited Cassie lifelong owing to past family members’ nursing careers, but mostly, she feels she can make a positive difference in someone’s life by providing superb healthcare.

Although she will miss many excellent teachers, coaches, counselors, and her best friend at New Caney High School, Cassie still feels excited about continuing her journey pursuing a nursing career. Coach Holleman stands as her favorite teacher, mentoring her, teaching her profound life lessons. and showing her precise swim techniques.

Cassie Borgfield:  not only a remarkable student and an outstanding swimmer, but also, and most of all, a wonderful friend!
