The Texas Rangers, a professional American baseball team based in Arlington, Texas, located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, currently competes in Major League Baseball as a member of the American League West division. Since 1994, the Rangers have played in Globe Life Park, a lovely stadium to watch a game.

The team’s name, borrowed from the famous law enforcement agency, originated after the team moved to Texas. Originally called the Washington Senators, this baseball franchise, established in 1961 in Washington, D.C., holds the city’s title as its first American League ball club.

The Texas Rangers team, showing fierce competition, yet genuine talent, has made eight appearances in the Major League Baseball postseason. Afterwards, the team earned seven division championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2010, 2011, 2015, and 2016 and as a ‘wild card’ team in 2012.

In 2010, the Texas Rangers advanced beyond the Division Series for the first time, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays. They earned their first American League pennant after beating the New York Yankees in six games.

In the 2010 World Series, the franchise’s first, the Rangers lost to the San Francisco Giants in five games. Nevertheless, they determinedly earned the American League champion title the following year, but then they tragically lost the 2011 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

Charles O. Finley, the previous Kansas City Athletics owner, wanted to relocate his baseball team to Dallas, but other American League team owners declined his request.

Arlington’s old Turnpike Stadium, a 10,000-seat park, built in 1965 to house the Double-A Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs of the Texas League, served as the home of the Texas Rangers from 1972 to 1993. The team then moved to their new home, The Ballpark in Arlington, now called Globe Life Park, the Rangers have played in since 1994. However, in 2020, the Texas Rangers will move from Globe Life Park to the new Globe Life Field, a ballpark currently under construction in Arlington, Texas.
