Dolly Parton, born January 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, lived in the grand Smoky Mountains. Notwithstanding that she grew up as the fourth of twelve children in poverty, Dolly had grand, future aspirations. Her goals included pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter, and she began writing songs at nine years old, and then later, she appeared on WSEV radio in Sevierville,Tennessee.

Dolly, an average, ordinary student, attended Sevier County High School and graduated in 1964. After graduation, she left for Nashville to pursue her music career dreams. Not knowing she would fall in love in that time period, she met her future husband, Carl Dean and they married two years later in May 1966.

Taking acting as a hobby along with singing, she has performed in at least 13 movies. In 1980, she received two Grammy awards for the song “9 to 5” and the famous movie with the same name. Dolly has recorded 50 albums of country/gospel music, delighting her followers all over the world.

Some of the popular albums she has released include Trio, Little Sparrow, Jolene, and Pure & Simple. Dolly has had more interest in singing and songwriting rather than acting. When Dolly sang, she felt as if she found her forte in life.

Although the couple did not have their own children, still Dolly and Carl love kids and try to teach them good precepts about life. Rather than living an isolated life in Tennessee, they have traveled all over the world and met many interesting people. Her music exemplifies her true soul, and she leaves a wonderful experience to all of her audiences.

A quite generous celebrity, Dolly started her own library to promote literacy and has given out over 100 million books to people. She truly wants to improve young adult’s  reading and writing skills across Tennessee so they can achieve success in life.

Dolly retains her popularity because of her country music style. A woman with a dedication to God, she has an affable personality and loves all of her fans.
