Brian Wimberly, assistant director of the NCHS Spirit Band From Eagle Land, has worked at New Caney High School since 2006 and truly enjoys teaching. Already working at New Caney High for 12 years, he has no plans on leaving anytime soon. In fact, he would surely enjoy staying for a long while and teaching future generations.

Mr. Wimberly enjoys teaching music at NCHS and loves spending time with students. He feels exalted when working and helping them, teaching aspiring future musicians.

Mr. Wimberly attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He then studied at University of Texas where he earned his teaching certification.

Growing up, his mother warmly heartened and profoundly influenced him to pursue his dreams. Although he had other role models, still his mother inspired him the most by always encouraging new ideas and supporting his efforts. Also a teacher, she impacted his life and motivated him to weigh and consider a teaching career.

Outside of school, Mr. Wimberly loves to spend time with his family, eating meals, watching movies, and playing golf. Although he claims to not play the sport well, he still relishes playing it. Like playing music, with much practice, he will improve his golf game!

As a man who appreciates outstanding music, Mr. Wimberly loves John Williams’ music, composer of many outstanding musical pieces, such as the “Imperial March” from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, “Quidditch, Third Year” from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, “E.T.: The Flying Theme” from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, and many more. The “Theme from Superman”, also by John Williams, he considers his favorite.

Mr. Wimberly–a wonderful teacher, an inspiring man, and a musically gifted human!
