With more than two billion people watching, Prince William and Catherine Middleton-now known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge-married April 28th at Westminster Abbey.

The wedding, viewed as the greatest royal affair since Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding, comes after a relationship that lasted for almost a decade.

William wore the colonel uniform of the Irish Guards while Katherine revealed her wedding dress–a classic yet beautiful gown designed by Sarah Burton and seemingly inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress.

Among the invited guests were David and Victoria Beckham and Elton John. The Obama’s were not invited supposedly due to security issues and the Secret Service’s desire to know as much as possible, including secrets that the royals would not reveal until the wedding already began, in order to do their job.

Over 100,000 people flocked to Buckingham Palace to watch the couple’s first kiss on the balcony where Prince William’s parents shared their first kiss. Queen Elizabeth is hosting a breakfast for 600 guests after the wedding, and Prince Charles will host a dinner dance for 300 people.

While the wedding might not have surpassed Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s, many people believe that the marriage and subsequent rule will have a better outcome.
